How I See It

This website provides you with information about the upcoming election and a background about me.  So let's start off with some of my points of view - about what is important in the Town of Wasaga Beach.

Controlling The Town's Land Use

Two documents determine our land use: the Official Plan and Zoning By-Law. They are in the review stage now as mandated by the province every five years. We have had several open houses for the public's input and planning staff have made several recommendations to these documents. Continue..

The Ministry of Natural Resources and The Town

We are unique as we have a Provincial Park within our boundaries, making the Ministry of Natural Resources our largest land owner. We have a strong summer season but the shoulder seasons need to be looked at again. Continue..

Our Current Financial Position

We must balance the needs of the municipality and deliver and maintain our service levels to the residents while being mindful of our taxpayers' pocketbooks and their ability to pay. Wasaga Beach is very financially stable and this has been confirmed by our municipal auditors, as well as the province, which does annual reviews on all municipalities. Continue..

Should A New Library Be Built?

The library board has done a wonderful job of preparing a needs study for a new library for the town and I have no doubt we are bursting at the seams. As my speech has suggested, I always try to balance the municipality's needs with the taxpayers' pocketbooks and their ability to pay. Continue..

Pecuniary Interest

Pecuniary Interest, or Conflict of Interest, is strictly regulated by Provincial Law. When a pecuniary interest is disclosed, that same interest is usually repeated three to four times throughout the meeting process as it moves from the standing committee level to the Committee of the Whole Council and then on to Council. What appears as three conflicts, are in fact, the same one repeated. Continue..
